10th MuMe Work Meeting held on januari 31

On Januari 31, 24 members joined for the 10th Work Meeting of the MuMe-community, representing 17 partner organisations.

Participants

24 persons from 17 member organisations attended this 10-th work meeting.

Feedback from the Participants

The participants enjoyed the lively presentations and demonstrations by the different speakers. Comments during the presentations and the informal gathering afterwards, were all positive. Everyone enjoyed the material presented, the enthusiasm of the speakers, the open atmosphere of the work meeting and the possibility to interact with other participants.

We collected 8 evaluation sheet at the end of the formal gathering. The distribution of the given feedback on particular aspects of the workmeeting is as follows:

New topics for presentations in further work meetings proposed were:

• Thin clients vs thick clients
• Video Search: retreival of video based on metadata, datamined descriptions, etc...

Community status

• 30 organisations signed the membership agreement
• 229 people subscribed to the online platform
• 68 technical documents are posted on the online platform.
• The open website for the MuMe-community (www.mume-community.com) is on-line and in use to promote the MuMe-community activities to the open world.

Upcoming events

• As date for the 11th work meeting of the MuMe-community, May 15 was proposed at the meeting. Proposed topics for presentations for WM11 are:
  • 1. R&D at IBCN-Lab [UGent]
  • 2. Use of technology in partner application [tbd]
  • 3. MPEG-4 vs VC-9 for HDTV [tbd]
  • 4. Video (+Audio) quality perception [tbd]
  • 5. Multimodal Multimedia [tdb]
  • 6. Implementation in HW vs SW [tbd]
• Furthermore the proposal to organise an open event end October or early November was received positively.
