11th MuMe Work Meeting held on May 15

On May 15, 30 community members, representing 16 partner organisations, joined for the 11th Work Meeting in Leuven

Participants

30 persons from 16 member organisations attended this 11-th work meeting.

Feedback from the Participants

The participants enjoyed the quality and livelyness of the presentations by the different speakers. Comments during the presentations and the informal gathering afterwards, were all positive. Everyone enjoyed the material presented, the in depth knowledge of the speakers and the open atmosphere of the work meeting. During the networking drink, many took the opportunity to further discuss the topics with other participants.

We collected 17 evaluation sheets at the end of the formal gathering. The distribution of the given feedback on particular aspects of the workmeeting is as follows:

New topics for presentations in further work meetings proposed were:
  • (HD) Cinema: applications and standards.
  • Live sports events (streaming, etc...).
  • indexing in speech / music / audio archives.
  • Speech / Audio processing.
  • Virtual Worlds.
  • Gaming.
  • IDTV/IPTV versus Youtube & Joost.
  • How to get from knowledge/technology to the market (productisation).
  • Tools/tool chains for multimedia application development.
  • WEB2.0 impact on multimedia.
  • Vector graphics technologies.
  • Distributed Video Coding.

Community status

  • 29 organisations signed the membership agreement
  • 232 people subscribed to the online platform
  • 69 technical documents are posted on the online platform.
  • The open website for the MuMe-community (www.mume-community.com) is on-line and in use to promote the MuMe-community activities to the open world.

Upcoming events

  • The next work meeting of the community will be organised as an open event. The target date is end of October / early November. The program will be defined in the next weeks and posted on the website while available.
