Artikel in "de Standaard": Onderzoekers van het Leuvense onderzoekscentrum voor nanoelektronica en nanotechnologie (IMEC) en het Franse Institut National des Télécommunications (INT) zijn er voor het eerst in geslaagd om op een mobiele telefoon driedimensionale beelden af te spelen in een gangbaar bestandsformaat. Het is een belangrijke doorbraak in de wereld van de computerspelletjes.

Larian provides 3D game content to MPEG

MPEG's 3D Graphics Coding group (MPEG 3DGC) recently re-intensified its standardisation activities that are tailored towards the needs of 3D gaming. Larian, having considerable experience with on-line gaming applications, has decided to provide MPEG with game-specific 3D content.

MPEG completes two important tools

MPEG-21 took another significant step forward with the completion of Part 15 Event Reporting. This new part of MPEG-21 is another important tool in suite of multimedia management technology. Event Reporting provides mechanisms by which providers may request peers to send reports on the usage of Digital Items. The standard provides a specification for the report requests and the reports themselves. As for other MPEG-21 technologies, this infrastructure is not required in all MPEG-21 applications but is a vital business enabler for some content providers.
